    INTERVIEW
    • 1) What was the inspiration for creating the project for the Hotel?

After three years of restoration and rebuilding, the Santa Teresa Hotel, the old Chacara dos Guimarães, located in the heart of the famous Santa Teresa neighbourhood and one of the few listed hotels in the city of Rio de Janeiro, reopened its doors in September of 2008. The neo colonial style mansion was carefully preserved. A refined decoration tells the traveller the history of Brazilian land. The cotton, linen, coconut and banana plant fibre, the reed, the tropical woods, the whitewash, the Portuguese tiles, the hydraulic tile and the smooth concrete floor evoke the natural Brazil and the colonial atmosphere of the golden ages of coffee, cocoa and sugar cane. In all the hotel’s spaces, the primitive art work from indigenous tribes in the Amazon and Pará, the sacred carioca baroque artwork and the refined artisanal products from Minas Gerais and the Northeast celebrate the origins of Brazil.

      2) Which are the main differentials the hotel offers?

-Differentiated and unique service that a Relais & Chateaux offer.

      - Artwork and furniture from Brazilian artists and designers such as Sérgio Rodriguez, Zemog, Studio Vitty, Rock Lane, Carassa and Oficina de Agosto mark the strong Brazil centricity in each detail of the decoration project.

-Exclusive 300m2 Natura brand spa; with Jacuzzi, sauna, beauty treatment and massage rooms.

-Panoramic restaurant with a contemporary offering, the Térèze.

-Cachaçaria-bar in the arches of the centenary Senzala, the Bar dos Descasados.

      - Two comfortable meeting rooms, the La Villa.

      3) How have Trousseau products added value to the hotel?

The Trousseau products make our apartments more sophisticated with their towels and bed linen, complimenting the guests experience in a Relais & Chateaux, where they may enjoy the towels after a long bath or sleep lightly on the bed linen.

      4) Which activities and outings are most sought after in the region? Which are offered by the hotel?

      –City Tour

-Outings to tourist attractions such as the Corcovado and the Pao de Açucar.

-If the guest asks at reception about a given tourist attraction, the hotel will contact the companies which provide transfer to the location.

      5) If you had only 72 hours in Marau, what would you recommend doing and seeing?

We have two options: The first is for those who LOVE to do a million things on trips: long hikes along the beach at low tide, enjoy a visit to the region during the full or new moons, when the tides are extremely high and form natural coral pools for delicious snorkel diving or simply to admire the corals and swim with the little fish around you; explore the swamp region, which are incredible and have a totally different vegetation to anything we have ever seen; Visit the cocoa and rubber farms, a unique experience and drive down the “Cassange trail” a beautiful trail full of giant bromeliads, beach on one side and the famous Cassange lake with sweet limp water on the other. Enjoy a dip in the lake.

The second option is for those who want to enjoy the beach and a hammock... For those, the best place in the world is here!!! Take a stroll on the beach, lie on a chaise long in the shade, holding a cashew or cocoa honey caipirinha and letting the day go by slowly...
