Introduction

Installed in a 200 thousand m² coconut plantation, the Rancho do Peixe B&B is located on the Preá Beach, in the Cruz municipality, only 12km from Jericoacoara, in Ceara.

The 26 accommodations are 80 m² each, and were built on suspended decks, from reforestation wood, covered in carnauba straw and surrounded by coconut trees and dunes. The Rancho do Peixe holds sustainability and the preservation of the environment as its main concerns. Several awareness campaigns and initiatives are created involving the community and staff which are, for the most part, born in the region.

The B&B is built from reforestation wood and carnauba straw, practices recycling, looks after the destination of waste products, utilizes biodegradable materials and cultivates an organic kitchen garden which sustains its own restaurant with fruits and vegetables.

The B&B’s entire decoration has been done with artisanal products, emphasising the local work and culture. Transmitting charm and magic, it demonstrates that all was thought through minutely to please, envelope, attract and cater to our customers in a unique manner.

INTERVIEW
  • 1) What was the inspiration for creating the project/design of the Hotel?

Nature and the charm of Prea, being a fisherman’s village with a heavenly beach which, at the time, was unexplored. It all began with the love 2 of the partners felt for sport and found the perfect location to kite surf and relax. We wanted the B&B to integrate into the region and for it not to be a construction which would get in the way of the local atmosphere.

    2) Which are the main differentials the hotel offers?

The biggest differential the Rancho do Peixe offers is that it bases itself on four pillars; sea, wind, native and poetry. And they talk to the nature around it. The sea and wind are linked to sport and the sensation of experiencing something unique, a little more radical, typical of the region, which are Kite and wind surfing.

Inside the B&B there is a kitesurf school, with an excellent structure for you to learn or practice. The native part is linked to the contact we have with the people who live on Prea and the region. As well most of the staff being native, because we believe that everything comes out with a lot more love and affection, the B&B has always been involved in community projects, such as waste recycling and helps street animals.

The poetry is a pillar which links itself to all the others cited above, because all that we do has a charm of its own, respecting the environment, offering an essential experience. Since the initial project, we gave thought to how the B&B could be totally integrated into nature, respecting the living beings that live there, but with the charm and comfort of a 5-star establishment, being able to offer a unique and differentiated experience to each of our customers.

    3) How have trousseau products added value to the hotel?

The accommodation is one of the essential parts of a hotel. Being able to guarantee an ideal rest so that each customer can enjoy the next day in a unique manner is part of our strategy, and therefore, the Trousseau bed and bath products is a differential to be able to achieve this objective in its entirety.

    4) Which activities and outings are most sought after in the region? which are offered by the Hotel?

We like liberty, we look after nature and the local culture. And we hope all appreciate this also! We offer options of the best places to see in the region, with security and quality which is not found anywhere else. The Rancho do Peixe offers different types of outings which are very well known: the sunset at Barrinha, Pedra Furada, a tour of the Azul, Paraiso lakes and Tatajuba . All very beautiful, because they have an incredible view of the region.

    5) If you had only 72 hours in prea, what would you recommend doing and seeing?

First day, check in, install yourself in the room and enjoy the special drinks our waiters mix specially for you.

Second day, make a trip to Tatajuba which lasts about 6 hours. To enjoy the day, try to leave early. The view of the trip on the buggy is incredible both coming and going. Untouched dunes and beaches. You can feel the swing and breeze of the region passing through the Mangue Seco, appreciate the view of the sea which changes colour as the trip progresses. You can try the ski sled on one of the dunes and see beautiful images, as well as getting to know the history of that region. Upon arrival, try taking a kitesurf lesson, it is a new and incredible experience which everyone loves. There is still time to have a massage or see the sunset, sit and relax watching the sun kiss the sea in the horizon.

For the third day we recommend a trip to the lakes (Azul and Paraiso) because they are beautiful, and it is worth seeing them, finishing the trip at the Pedra Furada. Sculpted by nature through the waves of the sea, the Pedra Furada is a rocky formation encrusted in the Jericoacoara beach 4 kilometres away from the village which has the same name and is about 300 kilometres from Fortaleza. It is the symbol which characterizes the famous beach, nowadays internationally known as one of the most beautiful beaches on the plant. It is also Ceara’s postcard. In the month of July, one can see the sunset through the hole in the Pedra Furada.
